Kalamandir of NJ

Created in early 2009, Kalamandir Dance Co. is a new vision of Malabika Guha, director and teacher of the 22 years-running Kalamandir Kathak and Creative Dance school of NJ. Malabika wanted to bring together advanced dancers with a foundation in Indian Classical dances and use their capabilities to expand on original storylines and ideas.

Mitali Banerjee Bhawmik, an artiste of Hindustani Classical vocal music, was born in Nogaon, Assan. She has her own school and teaches the art of Hindustani Classical music. Not only has she performed all over the United States and beyond, she also playbacked for Mira Nair's film "The Namesake"

Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, affectionately called "Ustadji" by his students, descends from six generations of sitarists. He is one of the leading exponents of the Etawah Gharana in Sitar, a musical tradition or "family" committed to this most famous of Indian instruments. He was trained by his father and guru, Ustad Aziz Khan.

Timeless Music is an organization dedicated to the enrichment of Indian Classical Music and Dance. It is the brainchild of Hidayat Khan, son of Ustad Vilayat Khan, who is continuing the Vilayat Khani Gharana through his performances, teachings, and recordings via Timeless Music. The Gharana of Ustad Vilayat Khan, who changed the meaning of Indian Classical Music by introducing the famous gayaki and the khayal concept, is being preserved and promoted by Timeless Music.

Connected to a family of classical music maestros, Shafaat Khan is an Indian Classical instrumentalist and teacher in the tri-state area.

Chhandayan is sincerely dedicated to serve all aspects of Indian music in every possible way. With its primary mission to propagate learning, understanding and appreciation of Indian music (mainly north Indian classical), Chhandayan's activities cover almost all of the areas essential to such pursuit. Jayeeta Ghosh is an accomplished vocalist specializing in Rabindra Sangeet and Classical Music. She conducts classes in NJ.
